Way ahead: NSS work: Science Popularization _ Bharati Script

 नमस्कार / నమస్కారము /ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ/ வணக்கம்/ নমস্কাৰ/ નમસ્તે/  നമസ്കാരം

This is Vikram bhayyA.. who will be coordinating the works on behalf of bharatiscript.com (a project of IIT Madras). With in a month, based on the convenience of all/ majority of volunteers,  there will be a meeting with Prof. Srinivasa Chakravarthy (Dept. of Biotech), to whom even I will be reporting about Bharati script _ Science popularization activities

We assure u that all the work you do will get properly acknowledged and u can write your contributions in your CV. The works that we will be doing are for the benefit of the society and so all the relevant content that gets generated will be kept in open/ public domain

U will have enough freedom to choose the type of work u wish to do
During the work and later in life we should have satisfaction with the work that we do/ did.

Lets not send long messages unless required.
Please maintain a notebook (hardcopy) for noting down good ideas/ work.

Broadly there 2 aspects:

(1) science popularization in native languages

(2) bharati script..one common script for writing various Indian languages that helps in unity

Both these can be done in several ways.. where people can do tech and/ or non-tech work

Let's use this group for the desired purpose.

I will be teaching mathematical magics and giving Science demos  during the science week (22-28 Feb) at Hyderabad/ Warangal/ VIjayawada, so will not be available for discussions with you especially during 08:00-20:00.

I hope that most of you attended the online meeting that was held on 13-2-22 and have a rough idea of the types of works available. For getting clarity about the work that you can do, it will be better to have another meeting but that is possible only during the 1st week of March. What to do till then will be sent in audio format by 21:00 (25-2-22).

Irrespective of what we study at UG level, we have studied Maths/ Science/ Social in common in school. Similarly, irrespective of the work that u will be doing as a part of NSS, u can try (No compulsion) to do the following at the earliest possible (without missing ur regular classes!):

(1) In Chennai, the Science week celebrations are happening at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium (09:30-17:00). I personally recommend ppl in and around Chennai to visit the event and spend at least 4hrours there interacting with the scientists & also other visitors. However, follow the covid rules.

(2) So also visit Anna Centenary library in Kotturpuram ... When you go there try to look for books in your mother tongue also for at least 30min. Don't miss the children section (here again u can spend 15min for books of ur mother tongue). Based on your wish you may even spend some time there in the sections related to visually(/ hearing?) impaired  On the overall it is worth spending 09:00-17:00 on various floors. In the opp. lane (eastwards from the crossroad there) there is a pure veg hotel which provides lunch(meals!)

(3) Hope u thought of seeing what is there in the children's wing of IIT library. If u havent done it yet, plz do look into it for at least 30min.

The knowledge u acquire in these activities will help a lot in ur life.

What else u can do till March 1st week:

U may try java applet for physics math chemistry concepts in ur mother tongue

U may want to do  https://neal.fun/deep-sea  kind of thing in ur mother tongue?

U can search in internet by typing   Arvind gupta toys  <ur mother tongue>    then u get videos in that each less than 3 min. plz see at least 5 of them randomly. It is good to subscribe to that YouTube channel.

https://youtu.be/gZ7MziRxW_E (04:15) = Tamil moral story animation .. even if u r not tamil person u can see 1st and last 15s to know the essence.

----
U can see various aspects in bharatiscript.com (those who want tech work can see 'research'   2 link/ also the mudra bharati)

To know what is (the use of) bharatiscript, u may see https://youtu.be/xjrWhawbwI8 (02:01)  or https://youtu.be/Ii7WXK8JrJc (01:30)
U can see https://youtu.be/bwfMymsiNZg (03:05)  to know how to use bharati related font in computer. U can try with sundarabharati font instead of navbharati font shown in the video

Android Apps such as bharati keyboard, bharati transliterator can be practiced for about  7 minutes each

Math based android apps like Hindi unity, Tamil Unity, Telugu Unity  can also be tried for 5 min each

U can try the following tests related to bharati script:
level 1 tests  with certificate (made by Sridhar)

Many more will be discussed based on your interest.
